Documents you need for Anmeldung — checklist
Sharing the essentials for anyone preparing their first Anmeldung. Veterans — please add anything missing!
Bring:
- Passport (and a copy)
- Wohnungsgeberbestätigung (landlord confirmation form)
- Rental contract (Mietvertrag)
- Anmeldeformular (filled out — download from your city's website)
- Marriage certificate (if applicable, translated to German)
Helpful but not required:
- A friend who speaks German
- Patience
- Coffee
