HowToVora respects your privacy. This page explains what data
we collect and why.

What data we collect

When you register, we store:

• Username (publicly visible)
• Email address (private, used only for login & notifications)
• Encrypted password (bcrypt, never stored in plain text)
• IP address when posting (for spam and abuse prevention)
• Registration date and last login time

When you post, we store the content of your posts along with
your IP address.

Visitor statistics

For analytical purposes, we store hashed IP addresses
(pseudonymized using SHA-256) for a maximum of 14 days.
This prevents double-counting repeated visits from the same person
without identifying you individually. The hashes cannot be reversed
to reveal the original IP. They are automatically deleted
after 14 days.

Legal basis: Legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR —
accurate visitor measurement without external trackers or
third-party analytics services.

Cookies

We only use technically necessary cookies for login and CSRF
protection. We do NOT use tracking cookies, advertising cookies,
or third-party analytics cookies.

Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to:

• Access the data we store about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Deletion of your data (right to be forgotten)
• Data portability — receive your data in a readable format
• Object to the processing of your data

We will respond to your request within 30 days.

Retention

We store your account data for as long as your account is active.
When you delete your account, personal data is removed within
30 days.

Visitor statistics hashes are automatically deleted after 14 days.

Email delivery

Confirmation and notification emails are sent via IONOS
(1&1 IONOS SE, Germany). By registering, you agree that we may
send you these transactional emails.

Hosting

This site is hosted on servers located in Germany.
